To give accurate, practical and easy-to-follow information about life and business in the Maldives.

Sources

We base our guides on official sources wherever possible: government ministries and authorities, published laws and regulations, and official forms and portals. Each guide lists its main sources at the end so you can check them yourself.

Writing and review

Guides are researched and written by our editorial team. Some first drafts are prepared with the help of AI writing tools. Every guide is read, fact-checked against the official sources and edited by a person before it is published. The “Reviewed” date on each guide shows when it was last checked.

Keeping guides up to date

Rules, fees and processes in the Maldives change often. We review our guides regularly, prioritising visa, tax and business topics, and update them when something changes.

Corrections

If you find an error, please tell us. When we correct a guide we update its “Reviewed” date.

Independence and advertising

HandyMaldives is independent and is not part of any government body. The site is funded by advertising served by Google. Advertisers have no say over what we write, and ads are always labelled “Advertisement”.
